Advice on external Tiling contract

Tilers Forums Official Sponsors

Hi Guys

I’ve been asked to put in a price for a 3 storey university that requires tiling on its facade above each floor of Windows. The tiles are 60x30 porcelains. About 250m2 worth. Never taken on a job like this before to be honest and was wondering wether regs stipulate mechanical fixing for this kind of work or would normal adhesive be ok?

Cheers in advance

Yeah been looking at these, you used them before, look a good bit of kit
No, never used them. I imagine it would take a little more time but you'd sleep better than if you hadn't I'd imagine.
Maybe someone on here has used them?

not a job for this time of year in the uk.
did a job in islington on a tower block were we fixed external walls in a 3 inch by 9 inch project till in the1980,s using old school sand and cement.
i did it for a week was like working on a battle field had to dodge the local residents trying to kill us by the amount of things they through from there balconys including tvs fridges washing machines shitty nappys. we had 3 guys tiling and one on permanent watch . nightmare job was in the summer school holidays

Also you need to be aware of cold temperatures. Most cement based adhesives are only frost resistent once they have fully cured and must not be subject to sub zero temperatures till then. We have tested the Raimondi clips and we think they are a superb and simple soloution to working at heights.
