When the homeowner, who can't do anything manual, goes to Ikea...

That is the same guy who called me for help when he had a power cut. His car was on the drive behind an electric sliding gate so I talked him through opening it manually, he couldn't do it. I went up there and the gate slid open.
I went in the house, "you managed to do the gate then?" said I. "No. It still won't open" came the reply. I walked out to the gate with him so he could show me why he couldn't slide it open.....

He's trying to slide it into a pillar!!!!
How I held it together whilst I told him to try sliding it the other way I don't know.

Went to look at a job today, local tiler did the work who is supposed to be the best around.
Tiles only been down 18months.

It’s inexcusable. Same screeners did a limecrete screed I tiled a few weeks ago and that was even worse but they said it was difficult to work with, but this, it doesn’t get any simpler.

We have the same weyroc waterproof coated flooring on new builds here as well - taped and tiled one years ago but it popped within a month as I told them it would! Fortunately it was a private domestic for a valued customer so redone at my expense.
Always overboard everything!!

I don't know why builders cant make floors suitable for tiling. Greedy B.......
Because it would cost extra money as (you say greedy ) tell the customer it wi be ok then make us look like money grabbing sharks when we tell them it is inadequate and it requires £££££ for remedial work and prep . To be honest the tta should be pushing the government to include in building regs correct materials in construction for tiling in any development that requires planning permission so in that I include extensions .
