I use cloth u get from halfords that you use to polish cars, its really good to clean the white haze off tiles

Hi PJC.
I found it is easier to clean up after grouting using a washboy which give a large flat surface as you wipe over the tiles. After clearing the excess grout off this way I let it dry off then use one of those Wash Mit/ polishing Noodle Mit( like you see for washing your car with ) to polish off the fine dusty residue left over .

Dave used to polish off with a dry cloth until i found my lungs burning then i went to soft clean wet cloth when dry much easer to buff then only a few minutes without the damage to my lungs

DAVE, i get this msg......

well said plumbersmate..sometimes they forget there are ladies on here as well...please add your comments anyway....how do you finish off once grouted...

once i've removed the excess grout, and the grout is dry, i wash down x 2 with a damp sponge, then dry off immediately with a towel - which eliminates all dust and polishes as well. course gloss tiles are much easier than matt ones, like padova, they take a little more persuasion (vigorous rubbing).

do you find that rubbing off to early has a risk of marking the joints or are you just extra careful...

nice one....just asking..coz sometimes especially with the flexi ones they can mark easy.....

sorry, guys, the 'rigorous rubbing' was the plumber's contribution, and you're all gents because none of you rose to the bait - well not those on line that is!

Err i was going to then had second thoughts... ..the gentlemen in me said NO don't...

talking of grout cleaning, does anyone else dislike using charcoal/black grout? apart from the panic i go through trying not to get the stuff on carpets which are usually cream, (the problem never arises with other colours!), walls etc, there's the sheer volume of water needed to clean the wretched stuff off the tiles, and associated surfaces, e.g. the bath - i think i may be partly to blame for the hose-pipe bans summer 2006!
