If tiles need removing how much extra do you charge for doing it, if atall? Say for example you had a 15sqm bathroom to tile, floor to ceiling but old tiles needed removing first, how do you work out what you would charge for it?

I always firstly ask them to do it themself. If they want it done then I tell them I'll do it on a daily rate and would 'estimate' 1 or 2 days more i needed but not usually. Then if I run over I'm still payed, its a job I dont like so want payed well for it. If it takes me a day and a morning I'll still take the 2 day rate. Then I quote the rest of the job as normal ontop.
Prob with removal, you never know how easy they will come of, 'estimate and daily rate' mate.

The best way to get this done and make good money is a mate who'll work for £60 a day, you take 2/3-1/2 the money while working on another job. Win win!

60s a bit much innit, get a gimp on the dole or a school leaver...30 sounds better...lol

You have to be careful doing that lads, what would you do if they pulled the tiles off and they fell onto the new £1000 bath below cracking the bath, doesn't seem so clever then.
Can't see someone on £30 a day taking too much care.

If you are going to remove tiles it is very important to inform the customer that until you have removed the tiles and seen what state the walls are in you cannot give an exaxt price on the job, worst case senario they may need a plasterer. Some tiles come off nicely, others will literally rip the wall down with them.

I try not to get into taking off old tiles. Cuts ya to shredds, loads of crap to clear up, and more often than not..........the walls need skimming.
