does advertising in the yellow pages or thompson worth it, will it bring in many calls?, at the moment i just advertise in the local paper and i aint had a call for the last two weeks.

been told off a builder friend of mine that yellow pages is just a bidding war where people phone about 10 of them and when they price them customer says this 1 will do it cheaper can you beat that, waste of time and money he says as for thompson think about how many times your self you have looked in it (if at all ever) at the moment getting sick of calls off yellow pages and thompson asking if i want to be in next book

Yellow and Thompson work for me here in the midlands, no problem.

if the yellow pages are such a waste of time then why do hundreds of tilers advertise in there, the reason is because it works and if it did not work they would not waste their time and quite a lot of money on it.

I have never paid for advertising anywhere - all my work comes from referrals, recommends and contacts.
If you have the spare money to spend on an advert in Yellow Pages then fine - but have you exhausted all free avenues of marketing first ???
In my view Yellow pages is the last option - just a lottery !!!

take heed of leathers advice, advertising is a lottery and wastes a lot of ur time estimating jobs u prob wont get, get to know local bathroom\ kitchen fitters\ tradesman \builders etc!! u need to get off ur *** and chap on doors and keep doing it! dont give up, search wider as well!! look at the work leathers got to know his is the best route !!
