Hi all

Can anyone help me decide which laser level to get? I have wittled it down to three:- Stanley CLE Dewalt Dw087K-XJ Bosch Plc1.
Can anyone tell me weather the Dewalt is significantly more accurate than the other two? My criteria are:
1) Accuracy
2) Quality/ well made
3) Accessories

Would anyone rate one above the other or are they all much of a muchness?
For instance, you get more accessories with the Stanley but the Bosch has more accuracy than the Stanley and comes with a tripod. However the Dewalt seems to be the most accurate but no tripod. Do you all see where I'm going with this?
Anyway I would be grateful for any input guys n gals. Cheers!

i use a pls2, great bit of kit. Has a magnetic bracket which will hold onto a corner angle bead which can be handy, also it can swivel on the bracket. I find it much quicker to establish your datum if you can project a level line around the room and then measure up and down to all your horizontals, its easy to move the line up or down and then re measure. Having decided on your datum i would then generally mark out with a long stabila level.

hi sibs

the dewalt is a good laser but the pls180 can transfer the laser 360 degrees around the wall 180 gets beamed from either side. yes the pls fits on a tripod. it comes with a magnetic bracket aswell. its small and lighter than the dewalt. pls specialise in this kind of equipment. ceiling fixers , metal particioners etc etc all use them. top lasers mate, you wont go wrong. it does more than the dewalt and the laser is very bright..cant sell it anymore than that really sibs

good luck

i dont know about the other one but the dewalt has a magnetic clamp with a hole for a screw.......the unit itself is magnetic......and has a standard camera tripod mount......but forget mounts....you will need a pole...tripods can go a distance off the floor......not as low as 150mm and not above (roughly) 1500mm....
a pole can go as low as you want and up to (mine) 4000mm..........

I had a conversation with a ceiling fitter last week about laser levels. he was using the PLS2 and i was impressed but he reckoned the DeWalt was better. Today while on site with the shop fitters there was a PLS2 knocking around and i tried it out. I think for what i need it would be great but i think i would like to see the difference between that and the DeWalt. All in i would say its a must these days.

as i keep saying the pls180 is the NEW!! updated, uprated version. more robust and the bIG seller is that the laser beams around the whole wall in one go. x 2 beams at 180 degrees, makes for a more accurate reading!

its difficult to define better when then are similar in performance. its personal preferance that usually sways people when it comes to 2 products that are similar but different if you know what i mean harry..

tiler burden you are naughty.........but it is a designated laser pole.......mounts flat, helps the dewalts self level , comes in a bag!........and is a neat bit of kit.....you might be able to get one cheaper.........but you still need to get one.....
p.s two years ago...........plus the dewalt has 0.2mm in 10mtrs accuracy..........you dont need 360 degrees.......but it would be nice:lol: however it also has a lot to do with brightness....the dewalt is superb....cant comment on the other......but if you goto my website and check through projects.....you will see the dewalt beam in a photo......i cant remember what project....hehe

yes they can be used on floors and yes then can project square. just think of a floor as a wall thats fell over????????????

the dewalt has been around for a while now pacific lasers are world wide renowned for this type of equipment..dont panic about buying a pls180, they are really sought after. you could stick it on ebay 6 months down the line and still pull back 150 all day long,,
