what van?

Hello all,

I'm new to the forum and new to tiling, I'm starting my tiling business soon and tring to decide what van, I have some must have's such as it must have 3 seats accept a full size plaster board and fit into my garage, so no high top vans, up to now I have been thinking of a 05 vivaro, transit or vito.
Any advice?

Hi Soupdragon welcome to the forum, i have a Merc Vito its an ideal size has 3 seats and plenty of room to get your tools in and still has loads of room for carrying tiles to the customer. Cheers Mick

Hi, welcome to the forums. I have recently bought a 55reg Vivaro 1.9CDTi and it is the pooch's pods! It has everything you are after, is reasonable on juice and is quite nippy. Plenty of room in the back for tools, tiles, boards etc. It has three seats but the person in the middle would get quite cramped if you were travelling long distances, ideal for me though as I work alone most of the time.

The swb transit tends to be a little wider but I have a ply bulk head and 8x4 just go in

why not consider the VW Transporter, i just picked up a 54 plate 85tdi £5400, plenty big enough even with my plumbing bits added in

I dont need drywall but I guess if I wanted to to carry plasterboard then I might consider a roof rack.

They seem cheap to buy (£2500 to £3k) for a 45,000 mile version. Any reason why they are such good value for money?

I think now is a good time to be buying anything. Alot of vans are traded in and the suppliers need to shift them on for cashflow and get new stock. Time to bargain!

Yes amazing value that they are selling vans with less than 10k miles for £3200.

I already have an old C-Class Mercedes and a Smart so I was thinking to either buy a trailer for £1k and tow both the smart and my exhibition stuff on the trailer. Capital outlay is then £1k.

Or to sell the Merc for £1000 and buy a van to replace it. Capital outlay is then £2k.

I'd be crazy to have three vehicles. A van. A smart. A merc.

ive got a citroen dispatch which is a brilliant van i must say but if your new to tiling and youre setting up then i suggest you get a small cheaper van until your business takes off its a very difficult time to set u now id keep hold of your pennys for a newer van just till you plug the work in

if u have got alot of work in the get a newer van ive just seen alot of new tradesman spend alot of money on new vans and end losing alot because there business has failed try and work your way up
