What thickness of adhesive should I use?

Hi all, I have had a liquid screed floor with underfloor heating installed. The screed has been down since July and has been warmed up as the hard frosts hit. The underfloor installer said I need to put a laybond epoxy sealer on first before laying tiles.

I am going to have a go at laying the tiles myself, I don't expect it to be perfect as it's not my trade but I work carefully, methodically and cleanly and above all I take the time to listen to anyone who is willing to give me their time to pass on advice.

The tile adhesive I have bought is tops tiles trade, slow set flexible adhesive that will fix porcelain and stone.
I have ordered a rubi ts 50 plus(not arrived yet)
The tiles are 450x450x8.5 procelain

Finally down to my question, what type of trowel should I use 6mm,10mm,notched,squared,semi circle etc etc?
What is the theroy behind the different thickness or type of notch?

I hope I have given you as much info you will need and I look forward to your replies,
Many thanks in adavnce, Simon

Get a 12mm round notch trowel. You should aim for 100% adhesive coverage under the tile. Always best to skim the back of the tile as well as trowelling out the adhesive onto the floor.

Sorry I thought a forum labeled Tile adhesive and Grout was the correct place for this type of question.

What is the reason for different thicknesses of adhesive and why the different types of notches on trowels? square/round notch.

It is a Calcium Sulphate screed. The laybond primer says its for this type of floor.

Thanks very much for your replies, Si
