Does anyone else get customers like this. What you say versus what they hear?

"That needs priming"

"Throw some pva on it"

"You will need white flexi adhesive for those tiles"

"I'll get the adhesive for you my mate can get it cheap, he reckons I just need the grey stuff, and it's cheaper"

"You don't need to skim that plasterboard, it's better left bare plus it can hold more"

"My builder says that he is going to skim everywhere so we get a real good finish, and it's better for tiling"

"The floor needs backer board to make it suitable"

"I have already got some 6mm ply, it was on offer and I don't want the height to come up too much"

"I can take care of all that for you, the tanking, sealing, cleaning and sealing the stone"

"Your trying to rip me off (where is dom's phone number)

It's hard to give you a definate price until I have removed everything to see the extent of the damage, but I estimate it to be around £££££"

"Your trying to rip me off (where is dom's phone number)

I don't get a lot of customers with these thought's anymore, most all of my work is recommended these day's. But I went to look at a job the other day and a lot of these thought's and words came flooding back. Needless to say his estimate will be 3 times what it should be. Hope he doesn't accept it. :yikes:

I tend to walk away from people like that cant stand em not worth the hassle something for nothing I'd rather work for people who appreciate it. I like it when they question something and say "well my mates a plummer and he said" if your mates a plummer why is he not doing it for you is it because your a (best stop here you get the idea)

You'll always get 'em mate. Heard the "i've PVA'd it already" a fair few times. Needed to wash it all off and wait for it to dry before tiling it just as many.

If I got a pound for every time I heard "Is that Unibond?" when I'm priming, then I would have enough money to buy out Unibond and wind them up.

i have said you "dont need me a tiler, you need an cowboy see you later " ive said it before and no doubt ill say it again, there to annoying, there the stand over your shoulder type

Reading these posts just make me laugh because there all true. usually its a case of ok you know better ill pack my tools up and go. Only for then the customer to say sorry and disappear

Ever had the "while you're here can you just......" with no mention of price?

Be it tile 'a quick splashback' or 're-Silicon this bit here' type thing.

Best one I ever had was a tile had cracked, somethink heavy had been dropped on it and whether she new I was there said to her son......the tiler must have fixed a broken tile...:mad2:
