i am going to lay travertine on a concrete floor. (approx 50m2). i was going to use a 1mm spacer for grout between each tile. I contacted BAL advice line re adhesive and grout and was advised that 3mm was british standards and never use 1mm under any circumstances. is this correct. any comments received with thanks.

I dont, not on travertine, some of the porcelenosa gear you get that is perfectly formed with really tight clean edges is the same. When installed with 1mm grout gap and nice and flat, gives appearance of one continuous floor/wall. Next time you are in any of the major uk airports, take a look at the floors. many of them are done in travertine with 1mm grout gaps.

True, it does look nice, but the BS is min 3mm. Just to answer the original question 🙂
