Hi all,

Firstly, just wanted to say hi and say how impressive the quality and quantity of advice is on this forum :2thumbsup: (particularly for newbies and beginners such as myself).

Secondly..... as the title suggests; I've cleaned off the old Silicon around the bath in our house and the gap at the taps end is pretty bloomin' wide - I'd say as much as a half inch. Do you guys have any hints / tips on how best to reseal it? The previous owner had stuffed it full of newspaper and siliconed over the top. I'm keen to use Silicon sealant as opposed to plastic trim etc, but it's just a question of how....

Any advice greatly appreciated guys,

I would seal it twice! But you could try removing the bath pannel and see if you could move the bath closer to the wall to reduce the gap?

It's always easier to add a bit more than it is to scoop it off if you put too much on, i.e. take it slowly until you have the right amount. Spray the wet Silicon with a washing up liquid and water solution and smooth it out using your finger

Corner tape used to be a sponser on TF, not sure if they still are. I tried it once, OK for DIY. Imo, you can mask the wall/ bath with masking tape, same effect.

Use masking tape under the bath between wall and lip of tub.
Chuck in the Silicon and smooth off as above.
Peel off the tape when set.
