My kitchen has red quarry tiles laid back in the 1920's when my grandfather built the house (just thought I'd share that with you!). They're in good condition, no cracks (bit odd chip), and lead seamlessly into the hallway with some lovely patterns of black and white tiles. They're looking a bit tired though, and dull, so I thought I'd lay some new one's over them. I assume they won't need a sealant applying before tiling, as by their very nature they're vitreous anyway (I think that's the right word). I'll be putting the original wooden strip back in the door frame, so the new difference in height won't be noticeable.
As for the black and white tiles in the hall, any recommendations for cleaning them to bring out all their glory? There are a few recommendations I've seen on other threads, but nice to get updated advice!
