Tiling onto painted plasterboard drywall

Hi people ive got a kitchen splashback to do in the monster in laws and on inspection the walls are painted plasterboard. What in your opinion is the best way to tackle this ie priming etc thanks in advance

I would sand down and use acrylic primer before tiling

Some of the more experienced members might offer better advice?

try and remove as much paint as possible, score the paint. Assuming you are using cement based addy then an acrylic primer. Tubbed addy no primer neccessary unles adhesive maker calls for it.

Make sure you score the plasterboard along with sanding it. Scoring it diagonally every 100mm or so to create diamond patterns in the plasterboard will help give the adhesive a good key. Then sand the walls down with a course sandpaper (doesn't have to be all gone, just most of it, and scored and sanded to shreds) then prime with a good primer. Don't use PVA!

cheers fellas i had a little sand of it and i think the board has soaked the paint up pretty good so might just score it and prime it

the paint needs to be removed as above
prime the area with an acrylic primer as stated.

Dose scoring into the the surface not weaken the plaster bond?

I have always just keyed the surface up with some 40 or 30 grade aluminum oxide break down the paint and key the surface up, Dust off then prime and then tile.
