i got the render from east ham aqautics, and the waterproofer was from another fish shop, i dont know if you have to waterproof it, but we did, about 6 years ago. go to a specialist because fish are really sensitive to most chemicals.

yes we use a three and one mix with integeral waterproofer in the mix
phil i was thinking down those lines how did it go,? quit expensive!!

is it chromium iv thts found in some adhesive? I can't imagine that would be good for fish:yikes:

i was doing an outdoor pool and some gardeners had just finished rendering a pond, they filled it with water and tipped a chemical in and it went bright red , so i Say's to these guy's what's that do brov, they said it neutralized the alkalinity in the cement/water , but cant remember what it 's called!! soze!!

:thumbsup:Last year I tiled an ornamental outdoor fountain, ( it go a mention in Tile UK mag ) I rendered the walls with sand/ cement + waterproof additive. Then used Dural WP tanking membrane. Mapei keraquick and latex plus. Good result

I remember an article in Tile uk on that...was it an octaganol one..?..If i recall right it showed the prep as i think...

i would say anything that is suitable for swimming pools but not sure on this one jamie, but you'll have about 6 weeks to research it until the weather clears up:lol:

Well, upon my sole. Tiling a fish pond! Think someone's sold you a kipper there mate. No plaice for it in my opinion. Good cod, whatever next? Just ran it past the old trout and she was amazed too. Skating on thin ice with this one. Wouldn't do it myself, or get anyone else to for that batter (sorry, i have a bit of a cold).

Sorry to carp on.

Sorry Dave just read your post, yes that was the one. I had a few tilers, up and down the country rang me with comments. Made some good friends, who still keep in touch. Flattered, you remembered. I also got a project mentioned in Tile UK about a balcony on exterior asphalt
