I set my laser up and do the bottom row of cuts and then go up, I used to hate it the first few times but now I find it very helpful :)

Wood batons imo, I go woodyard and get half an 8x4ft sheet of 12mm wpb sliced down into 2inch x 4ft lengths on their flatbed saw...perfectly flat, that usually lasts me about 6months, each to their own system but datum line and staff and batons works for me..

Haha..till someone shows me a better method of marking a room up and landing a full tile over a window or door to the mill and impossible to loose your groutlines I'm sticking with it mate :)

Thanks for all the tips, seems there's no need to splash out on the tile tracker, think I'll give all ago and see what works for me best. I had thought about boxed steel too, but like the idea of picking up the wickes gear.
