Just to clarify - when you guys tile round a bath do you always apply tanking to the walls (plaster board walls)?

You see, if i were tilinf a shower enclosure that gets soaked a lot, then I would tank the wall, but around a bath? what do you reckon.

Also the bath has a shower head over it - does this change anything, should i tank the walls near the shower?

Any opinions appreciated - have a nice weekend fellas, and ladies

I dont tank the walls, just use a good sealent for plasterboard and waterproof adhesive and grout, and Silicon.

Acrylic sealer is ok. As my own personal rule, I always tank the shower area. It gives the customer peace of mind and shows you are pro about your job.

I get the tanking kits cheap as chips and it last forever, so the customer doesn't really see it in the price 🙂

I would always try and sell the tanking system in a domestic shower area, but depending on how often the shower area is used then it's is not always absolutely necessary. As long as the shower area has enough time between shower times to completely dry out then tanking is not essential, but would still reccommend it to customer.

Tile Choice do a Granfix Wet Room Tanking system. You get a 10 litre tub of 'goo' and all the bits. £38. Lasts forever 🙂

don,t have trade discount as yet , got to buy of them another 2 times and bring my vat tickets in.

when i got a trade acount at tops all you needed was a letterhead and 2 receipts from other places like b&q ect to prove you are actually trade also c.t.d do a tanking system for around £40 its by webber i find this one best because you get more tape than other ones i have used but you need a trade acount to get it for that price
