I have a Rubi ts 60 tile cutter, which i generally get on really well with. But today was unable to cut 10mm glazed porcelain (450x450) tiles with it. It didnt matter if i used my 6mm, 8mm, 10mm or 18mm cutting wheel. I had to resort to using the wet saw, which is a pain having to go outside everytime i need to do a cut!

I cant see how i could be doing anything wrong, so is it just that the ts60 is not up to cutting/breaking these tiles.

Anyone else had a similar prob?

Re: Rubi ts 60 struggling with gazed porcelain!

Maybe time to upgrade your cutter, I found the ts good for ceramics but some of porcelain are getting tougher to snap.

Thanks,I thought that might be the case to be fair.

What would be your recommendation?

did you try tapping them on the back with a pin hammer after scribing

Scribe the tiles..... move the scribe to the edge of the bed....stand on he tile and on the scribed half and snap with your feet.........simples

For a cheap cutter a 'big clinker' will do the job, for a rubi you need to upgrade to a tx range. i'm a ts man and i don't know why they still sell them in the larger sizes they just aint up to the job.
