Porcelquick - adped system (external 20mm porcelaine tiles) - Tile Advice

Hello All,
I'm seriously considering using the above system, do any tilers on here have any experience, good or bad, they would like to share please?
One concern I have is if there would be a noticeable hollow sound but unsure if this would travel through 20mm porcelain tiles and I'm only raising them up by between 25mm and 50mm too.

Realistically 20mm porcelain is a landscaping product rather than a tiling product. It's not something most tilers will regularly fit, although they will occasionally come across them.

Think of it like a paving slab as opposed to a tile and it makes more sense.

The idea of setting a tile on four "blobs" or corner supports goes against every principal of tiling - hence it's not actually tiling at all.

Is is appropriate? It probably is a good solution IMO, the void allows drainage that removes most issues that cause failures in external tiling - moisture ingress that freezes and "pops" tiles.

Seems like a good solution to me, I wouldn't be bothered about the sound, it's not like you'll be tap dancing on them!

Thanks for the advice, you sound like someone who can recommend what to cut the 'slabs' with also. I've read that I need a good diamond blade for porcelaine. I have both a 4.5" grinder (not very good quality) and a larger 9" stihl. Could you recommend a disc and which cutter to use also please?
I dont have many cuts as its external, probably 20-40 and I dont have a big budget as this is a one-off.

That's great thanks, I'm not sure what now size to get and the bore size too. The small grinder seems a bit too puny for the job compared to the stihl cutter. Any advise would be appreciated. Cheers

If it's a petrol Stihl saw these are usually 300mm (12").

We're selling rather a lot of these blades at that size to landscapers for 20mm porcelain.

Hi Caley King, have had a fair bit of experience earlier this year and last installing 20mm porcelain tiles externally. Ended up doing all the cutting with a 4¹/² inch grinder with a good turbo diamond blade, mainly for accuracy as better control. Tiled a balcony using the raised adjustable pedastal system, and although the 20mm tile is incredibly tough the system still carries a warning that they can shatter should anything fall on them. They don't sound 'hollow' as too dense and tough.

Do you end up using the adpeds? How did you get on? cant myself really see ther drifference between using them and dot and dab fixing with flexi powder adhesive ?
