Hi
I have just had my kitchen replastered and was just going to tile onto plaster. Do i need to put something on the walls first ? After the walls i was going to tile the floor i was told to put 18mm ply down but does this need treating also?
Thanks

hi your new plasster will have to be bone dry before tiling i would give it minimum three weeks and then will have to be sealed with a penetrating sealer not uni bond ,poly bond or any other bond visit your local tile shop, as for the floor what is the reason for the ply?

Hi Brian
I have floor boards down now and was told not to tile on them but to put ply down.

Could use 6mm hardie backer boards, a spf flex on the floor lay hardie boards then screw but make sure you have no bounce on the floorboards..

Im guessing this has been answered before but is it not better to tile straight on to a platerboard that has been bonded, rather than skimming and then tiling?

there will be no weight issue with splashbacks so it wouldn't matter. also,if the plastering is dry lined and skimmed,it will be dry in days, but if wet plastered you have to wait a while as brian the tile as said.
and same as said, don't ply, cement board or similar is better

never tile onto bonding, far better to tile onto bare plasterboard.

Except BAL Bond SBR diluted 1:4 with water as per instructions.
