Mixers , why o why ??

I use this one:
Makita 6013BR 1/2 Inch Spade Handle Drill, 6.3 AMP, 550 RPM, rocker switch, mud mixer
I have two but I still use the old one which is about 12 years old now (Had a black & decker 1/2 inch before that.
The only prob is the chuck lets go fro time to time so I will have to replace that and I might get another 5-10 years from it.
I bought the other as I had a big job and needed 2, it sits at home as backup.
I still have my 7 1/4 inch makita skill saw I bought 20 years ago and I use it for all my subfloors and framing.
The bearings are not as tight but it still cuts really good.
I finally bought another one to use for precise cuts when I was doing a reno job with some wood work involved.

i have an eibenstock,my first one lasted 3 years,this one i bought second hand as i was in a panic and wasn't going to pay £270 for a rubi from local supplier!! my new one had very little use so jumped at it,slow start and great power.

After reading this thread I'm tempted to get a proper mixer, I hate the paddles but they were better than nothing. I agree about the washboys though, can't believe I went so long without one. I'll pop in screwfix tomorrow methinks.

What is the general opinion of the RUBImix 10? i currently have a ryobi mixer which we have used for a while but i am in the process of building up my own tool collection and i was thinking of buying the RUBImix until i read the post on the SPARKY. The RUBImix does look at bit fiddly.

Havn't used the rubi one mate............but i can vouch for the sparky one....coz i own one...

Stop it, stop it, stop it. I've heard enough already - I know I must buy the Sparky, but I've spent SOOOOOOooooooo...... much these last couple of months on tools. I was trying to resist a little bit longer.

The final straw was someone saying it splashes less :'(

My drill and new KWB paddle are great at mixing (the KWB paddle also cleans up like a dream) - but I must admit, the splash factor in a clients house is a pain. I'll buy the damn sparky next time the 10% discount comes round. They just had one, but I'm sure its run out now.

i had one from screwfix it didnt last a day but we do mix up to 100 bags a day have 2 eibenstocks nowdays ones been going full time for 4 years now the other 2 years spent £20 on new bearings on the older one 3 months ago never seen anything as good 😛ete

I found an old peugot drill in my garage and have been using that with a paddle. Bought a Skil mixer approx 3 months ago, thinking that the peugot was gonna die, but the bloody thing keeps on going so I still haven't taken the Skil out of the box :mad2:.
