Lip clips and spacers

Just had a look at the RLS clips and thinking about moving with the times and giving them a go. I normally use 2 mm spacers, are the 1.5 mm clips compatable with 2mm spacers or do you not need spacers with the clips also are the pliers needed. I know this is a topic that is well covered on here but I can't find an answer to my questions. Cheers

is 1.2 mm. nominal 1.5 mm. It is not compatible with 2mm spacers. there raimondi spacers. 1.5mm.

I usually use 1mm clips and then whatever size spacer I want/need. Saves buying different size clips. Pliers are necessary!

Yes the last job I used there 3mm clips and wasn't happy with the effort to keep the grout gap tight to 3mm so I'll stick with 1,5mm and spacers.

I'm in Spain so buy a local product but that place seems to be very popular with others on here.

Never used spacer on a floor, just use a straight edges and a well trained eye..🙂

Yes Mike and the 'Block' version of clips they sell is compatible with the Ramondi pliers and wedges and are a lot cheaper also, but still very good.

I wouldn't consider it as moving with the times. There are times when they come in handy, I've used them on bowed plank tiles before to straighten them out. However if you need to rely on them for every job it doesn't say much about your tiling skills. Just my opinion on them!

Anyone else find when you knock the clips out they chip the tiles ? Using 1m long tiles at the moment and went back to fixing them the normal way as got fed up of them chipping tiles in the last bathroom.

I've never had that problem, are you using spacers as well or just the clips? The edge of your tile must be extremely fragile.

Try using a rubber hammer instead😉

It happened to me two times in 5 years. always lining walls, tiles 100x30 porcelanosa rectified. probably, soft material, possibility chipping. Now, when I see similar tiles, 1mm clips use, add 2 mm spacer cross, I solved the problem. I always use a rubber hammer to remove.

I think the problem, both the rectification, the side is precisely to 90 °, or less.
and clip, working too close to the enamelling
