Thanks Faithhealer, I had an idea it could be done but.......yes it is laid flat, is it advisable to do it with adhesive applied?

As Faith, the good thing about rough slate is you can get rid of lips with a chisel. Prior to sealing, fix first I would say

If that doesnt work you can always carry of with the chisel and take it out

Did you get your slate down OK? I can advise on layout and sealers if you need it?
