How DO you stop a customer devaluing his house?

After coming out of a prospective customer house last week I spied a bloke I used know across the road(I plastered his new build house 13yr ago) I went and had a chat with him about this and that, turns out he is doing his very first diy bathroom refurb after getting his marble off the net for £22m2.(400mm x 400mm,3.5m2 floor,15m2 walls)
Anyway this gist of it is this......

He was going to to fit 25mm thick marble to the walls,
He was going to fit the marble over a 6mm ply overlay,
I measured 18.5m2 tight,he has only got 18m2 of tiles,
He has 2 bags of adh for 18.5m2 of tiling,
His plasterboarding of the walls will trap the ceiling light pull cord switch and the shower pull cord switch in the wall tiling,
He says he is already over budget (ex financial advisor)
And,apparently his budget won't stretch to £550 for labour and adh/grout......so hence DIY.....So how DO you stop someone.....

It will be more of an achievement to this guy to do something to a budget.... How it looks in the end is a very far 2nd place!

bigger grout lines would sort it out:lol:

Probably why he's an ex financial advisor. I wouldn't trust 'em to run a bath!!!
