can anyone help please ,i'm having problems with a shower i've just fitted , if anyone is a plumber i'd be grateful for your advice

the temp keeps dropping and the pressure is low its run off a combi and the shower is run off the sink taps (previously its own feed)everything is right ie hot n cold to right inlets temp valve has been re-aligned but when it drops in temp the hot waterpipe feeding the shower goes cold .Is the combi not big enough ?

Hi mate
I am certainly not a plumber, but if I understand you are you saying that when the pressure drops the shower temp goes down?
I have a combi and before I had it sorted I a similar problem ( ish)

If like me you are lucky it will be either a simple need to bleed the radiators and ensure the system runs at the correct pressure - mine is between 1 - 2 bars at hot ( baxi crap - wish I had a worcester bosch) or that weird pressure valve in the boiler need pumping up.

frogeye the plumbers mate - cos I keep paying them

What shower manufacturer and model is it,and is it compatible with your system, and frogeye showers and radiators are seperate

I only speak as I find - if my pressure in the boiler drops so does the pressure in my shower - there must be a link somewhere?

If I am misguided then no problems - I never was entirely happy with the plumber who installed it.

Time to get my ladybird book of plumbig out again

frogeye reading Dick and Dora's guide to plumbing (how old am I)?

sorry frogeye it might be the way i`m reading it.i`ll need a bit more info first cct then i`ll see if i can help

Assuming it's nothing fancy like with bodyjets it won't be because the combi is not big enough. Even a 24kw combi is capable of giving a good shower.

Most likely problem is lack of flow not activating the flow switch on the combi. Did you flush the pipework before fitting the shower? Inlet filters could be partially blocked.

Don't discount a problem with the boiler. A few years ago I fitted a Mira excell to a system fed by a combi and had a similar problem. All the taps worked fine but the shower kept running cold. It turned out to be a split diaphragm in the alpha boiler, the flow rate through the shower was slightly less than that through the taps and wouldn't quite operate the microswitch on the boiler.
