Having trouble with the last bit of my floor - advice

Hy,

Im having trouble removing the bitumen from the last 2.5sqm of a kitchen floor. Ive removed all the marley tiles. This particular area I think was tiled at a different era from the rest of the kitchen. The adhesive that is left is thick guwy stuff, but is proving difficult to remove and is hard to scrape as the concrete is bobbly.

Ive searched the net and found a couple of websites that sell bitumen removal stuff/ liquids, without naming any names, has anybody heard of any and are they any good.

Or any advice for getting this last area of bitumen up...or what to do.

you could grind it , it's messy though, wear goggles and a mask

Get one of these from www.tradetiler.co.uk It goes onto an angle grinder.

I would use a light breaker to nibble away at it .Be careful not to take to much floor up with it though.The grinder will only melt the glue and will make a mess without having a cowling and vac to collect the dust.

Having spoke to the tech guy with regards to the bitumen removal liquid - it is a make up of solvents, including paraffin. I was told to score the bitumen and then tip the liquid in and it helps to dissolve it? Any thoughts...
What does that cupped disc do that a normal grinder disc doesnt do? p.s ive just obtained the small makita grinder. :drool5:

The cupped disk goes face down on the floor to grind the surface.The glue heats up and cloggs the disk putting a huge strain on the grinder,eventually the grinder burns out.Theyre great for taking high spots off screeds or opening or cleaning screeds before flooring instalations.

I've used my grinder on a few small floors and it worked ok. Just messy
