Hi All!

I'm a keen DIYer with a plumbing C&G tech cert and a couple of years "experience" doing home plumbing. I have just ordered a steel bath from Homebase for £100 in the sale. Existing acrylic bath has cracked.

I'll be keeping the existing white WC and pedestal basin. I plan to secure existing 18mm T&G to the joists with screws and replace damaged boards then overboard with either 12mm WBP ply or 6mm (?) Hardie backer. I've read the tiling sections in my DIY books:

I'm scanning the forums now to try and pick up some nuggets. No doubt I'll be posting once the bath has been delivered. I'm trying to persuade myself to tile the "shower walls" before before putting the bath in - but perceived wisdom suggests that the bath goes in before tiling...

Cheers!:8:

Hoglet.

Thanks everyone for the welcome!

At the very least, I'll post before and after pictures and welcome feedback and what I could do better for the next project. Of course, I'll try and preempt problems by posting up first.:yikes:

Best,

Hoglet.

Hey hoglet, welcome to the forums. Be careful with an overlay of 12mm wbp or 6mm backers buddy, most makers will not give a guarantee that thin with a standard C2 (flexi) kind of addy.
