Genesis Tile Cutters - Any Good ?

Tilers Forums Official Sponsors

if there that big i'd go with an angle grinder or a wet saw. Gonna be time consuming but i think its the only option

used a tx1200 on 1200 x 600 porcelain and it was fine, cutting the 600 side you can score and break them over your knee. use knee pads tho:smilewinkgrin:

Thanks for the tip Biffa. And I finally got got the TX 1200 to break the tiles along the 120 length but getting them to break cleanly is another story !! Guess it's just a matter of working on my snapping technique.
Guy in the hire shop has suggested scoring the tile then applying an initial high pressure action on the tile at the top end ( without actually breaking the tile), then moving to the bottom of the tile and snapping it there.
Does that make sense to anyone ? These tiles are 55 euros each plus VAT so practicing to make perfect could get rather expensive.
Cheers, Phil.

I love my Genesis cutter, although it hasn't seen really heavy use yet. Just did about 20m of Porcelain (can't remember the make, but they were pretty hard). The rails do bend, if you try to break the tiles by applying pressure, but when you flick the heel of your hand onto the handle, the break nice n easy! 😉

This info's a bit late for you i know, but might be useful for someone else... 😀
