Hello forum

It’s a while since ive been on the forum so nice to see it’s as popular asever.

I need a little advice about company names, is it better to have a catchy name or something simply. Do any off you have any good company name suggestions?

Many thanks :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

I check companieshouse.gov.uk to make sure the name hasn't been taken. And I also check the trademark database patent.gov.uk I think it is to make sure it's not a registered trademark. I do a google search and also make sure a small company isn't using it somewhere who might register it as a trademark or with companies house after you've started to advertise the name too.

As it's a local business, I'd try to use an old town name or something that locals know of. Potters Tiling for example for Stoke.

Or as Andy says, your initials or name. Keeps it personal. And Eddie Stobart got big and they still use his name.

I'd go with your name or initials, I'm not a big fan of cheesy names or using letters for words, such as 'Tiles r us' who went bust!!! Only my opinion though.

i saw a van that had 'bodgeitt and legitt' the company that dosn't live up to its name.........written all over it.

It just sounds really unprofessional, and if it were me looking to employ someone, they would go to the bottom of the list. (God I sound really serious!!!!!!!!!!!)

I'd base it around where you live - Oh! on second thoughts prehaps not:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

It does help having a name people remember though - how often do we see a van with some name on it for a service we're interested in and then back home think what where they called again?

Not like this though

When i was thinking of a name, i asked my dad, he said to think of a name begining with the letter A as most things, like yellow pages are alphabetical, so it will always be near the top or on the first page............
