Chipped bath

Hi guys. Did a job for a customer 1 week ago, laying a new bathroom floor. She's now been on the phone saying there are several marks/chips on the bath (acrylic) and wants me to pay for it. I've got insurance but don't really want to use it as i'm not totally sure i've caused the damage. She says i've chipped it with my saw which may have been possible. What would you guys do? Anyone know how much does the plastic surgeon/bath doctor cost?

Do you not use a bathboard or similar to protect the bath? I think it may be hard to say the damage was not caused by you if it was not protected and you had a wetsaw in there.

I have heard of between £60 amd £80 depending on the type of bath and level of repair. What ever it is its cheaper and easier than a new bath!

Buy yourself a piece of ply for the top of the bath.

it wasn't a wet saw, it was a normal handsaw from when i was cutting the ply. I wasn't resting on the bath though. Can't really figure out how i've done it

You need to go and inspect the damage yourself before you do anything IMO, it might be nothing to do with you, or you might see where the chips are and straight away think you've caused them, but until you look you wont know.

hey they are well worth the money , i used one some time ago ,cost £150 min call out ,but then im down in the southwest , you could never see where it was fixed top job

Scratching a bath is easy but chips are usually caused by something being dropped. I would have a look and discretely find out if other trades have been in since you like sparks or someone fitting blinds, decorators etc. I think you'll know if you've been responsible for the damage.

If you think you are responsibe there are quite a few repair products by Cramer which are reasonably easy to use.

Always important not just to protect a bath but to be seen doing so because if there is any damage the tiler is usually the first suspect.

Involve your liability, they are great for situations like this, a quick phone call and they will tell you how to proceed.

You just tell then you are sure you didn't cause it and they will deal direct with the customer..

You can go and have a look at what is what but seems like this customer has you in her sights if she contacted you asking for payment to fix it.

How much is the excess though? Mine is £250 so it wouldnt be worth it for me
