Anybody have experience of Soundis Allshield Tile Backer?

It's on offer at my local Jewson's at the moment. Seems to be a cement board of some sort. Anybody used it? I'm worried it's cheap for a reason!

It's not cheap its good value for money and if plastering or rendering over it you need the manufactures recomended primer 🙂

🙂do you think it could be used as an lightweight alternative to plasterboard to create a false ceiling?

It’s definitely not light. If you want light stick to wickes tile backer board with the middle being foam.
