Completed this job last week = have never done tiles in vertical brick before. They were a beggar to get started - had to follow 2 sets of horizontal lines - put all bottom row on first.
Picture quality not too good, had camera on wrong setting.
If anyone notices missing piece above beam - this was put in later. Also siliconing of corners and around shower base done later. Don't want anyone thinking I am sloppy 🙂

That must have been a bugger for setting/starting out. Definitely never done a vertical brick pattern either, never been asked to. Looks absolutely spot on m8 . how long did it take?

Looks fab,the job not the avatar you know your pics freak me out,get a decent pic like concept. What did you charge if you don't mind me asking(feel free not to answer if I'm being too nosey)did you charge differently for the pattern?

£700 - cash no receipt, labour only. Customer supplied all materials as requsested by me - Completed in 4 days 🙂

Nice one, i always reccomment to the customer to go with the tanking, especially in showers.

Well there's a coincidence......this has also been my job for the last week. 30 x 60 tiles in vertical brick !

I've had to plumb in the shower, a towel rack/radiator, the sink taps, put on a false ceiling with spots, and put MDF on the floor before I got started so I've only just got one wall finished (almost).

Looks really good Leatherface. Like the pics.

I agree- 9mm ply at a push - or special tile backer boards which are thinner e.g No More Ply - boards

Nice work, who recommended they use plywood as the window, it doesn't let the light through as well as glass I thought. 😛

i wouldnt put mdf on floor if your tiling it would use exterior ply min 12mm

I'll take your advice on m8 because I DO intend tiling the floor. I'll put on the plywood as you've suggested.

What's the problem with using MDF for tiling anyway (just as a matter of interest) ?

Not sure of the exact technical jargon - but expect it is due to composition of the material, strength, water absorbtion.
Just know that plywood is always recommended - not MDF, HARDBOARD or CHIPBOARD 🙂

Ok, thanks for that Leatherface. I'll go with the plywood then.

lovely job leather m8!! another method for setting out >> fit batten level 1 or 2 courses from floor , cut some tiles in half , fix complete row using half tile every second tile, stick with rapid spf, by the time u reach ceiling you should be able to remove batten and half tiles!! repeat on remaining walls and then go to the pub and get bladdered

i actually dun a job like this 2 weeks ago!! was a bugger to set out!!! i done my usual baton along the bottom then a little batton for evry other tile!!!!! was a nite mare! that was only after Phone, ing darren at north east tiling for advice!! but was worth it as was for a kitchen n bathroom studio n they gave me the contract for all there tiling after it!! didnt get paid that much though!!!!! but will make sure a do next time ha ha

never use mdf on a floor might be a big mistake on your part there ..........but fingers crossed for you
