    I know if I was fixing tiles that size then the bed of adhesive I'd be using wouldn't make it a problem but I'd still try and get them flush if I could.

    Best substrate for half height tiles

    My trusted approach is to get everything back to block/stud. Dry line with plasterboard. Plaster skim the areas that won’t be tiled (go a little below your intended tile line and feather it to nothing. Tank the shower area. Tile. Paint.

    Wet rooms wedi or similar and the sticky tape but not done one this year. Monday I used Weber.sys protect which is my paint on tanking of choice
