My favourite customers of over 8 years have moved house and this is the first of 5 bathrooms/ensuites ending with 130m2 floor.
Original bathroom looked great at first look but on closer inspection there were a few red flags.
Tiles came off the walls in seconds with no damage to substrate as...
I’ve got tons of work booked in but stuck at home in isolation. Family of 4 and I’m the only one with a negative result. It’s horrible just waiting for that tickle in the back of my throat to start while everyone else is coughing all over the place.
Okay got ya.
I’d go with the decoup mat then. (There are cheaper versions than ditra eg dural.... And start tiling from the transition if it’s possible.
Almost a year on and I finally got the call to do the main bathroom. He couldn't get a light tube put in as planned due to the roof but it's plenty bright enough now he's had spots put in.
Was really nice to see it now everything's been done (Bathroom is the final job)...
I charged for materials upfront for the first time on my last job. Mats were a grand but it was just as lockdown started and was worried things would get stricter and I’d be screwed. Normally payroll mats myself upfront and only expect payment if customer is totally happy with job.
Yes needs priming so use an acrylic based primer. Best to use Mapei primer g if using keraquick. Once gone off I’d recommend screwing (+jackoboard washers). If you’ve got the space I’d opt for battening out and screwing to that rather than sticking to block work with adhesive.
That’s with Hardie and slc as the floor was well out. If level then I wouldn’t have bothered with the slc and definitely don’t use the sticky mesh on the floor. The mosaic backing needs 2 sides trimming to get them to fit as it is so them overhanging sticky sheets would be a mare!
