Commercial or domestic

Hi all

i was just wondering if the majority on the forum are domestic or commercial tilers.

Rachel

Domestic only, although have carried out one or two small commercials.

Much prefer domestic, in, out, paid.

well domestic tiling is arm chair tiling will take you so far but commercial tilling will make you more rounded and stretch you harder you wont spend your time relying on bs you will now what works and what does not you wont be asking reps what works you will be telling them a mix of both is great if you mix with tiling at all levels your confedice and now how will be far greater than only working on domestic and you will have far more work being able to jump from one to another

Domestic preferably. Commercial great if more than 1 person. Difficult if you work alone on a lot of the larger commercial work in my experience.

Domestic nice and clean no messy sites and other trades to work around and always the chance of a fit customer ( dream on )

Cut my teeth on commercial work and happy enough doing it but mostly domestic these days. Although it's hard to beat putting the first expansion down on an 800m floor, knowing it'll be finished in 4 days.

Interesting replies. Seems the majority prefer domestic. We are the opposite no domestic just commercial.

If anybody needs any commercial work and they are Cscs registered let us know, we have a lot of work scheduled at present.

We do cover the whole of the uk but most of our work is midlands, Birmingham based. Not too much Peterborough way but we are finding more sub contractors willing to travel for the work.

Mainly domestic and small builders, hardly any commercial since the on set of the recession,
Really miss it, much prefer it to domestic.

Sorry Mr T, no apprenticeships at present. Only looking for experience tilers at present.

Here's one of the joys of commercial work. Stayed late last night to get an area finished, the ground workers couldn't get the mains cable through this morning and had to dig for it. These tiles have been down less than 24 hours!! ImageUploadedByTapatalk1370983925.803452.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1370983945.549835.jpg

Yes it does have it moments though!
My dad finished a massive sand and cement floor in Coventry University years ago, they finished it, then next day the labourers got a kango hammer straight up the middle of it as they'd left a drain out.
But on the other hand i remember being handed 750m2 of walls with h trim off the floor and no cuts at the top as it has a suspended ceiling and just left to get on with it.
Lovely easy well prepared work, just like 600x300 stone on bumpy painted plaster in someone's bathroom!! :mad2:
