In order to deal upfront with the probable criticisms:
1. I am over 72
2. I am female
3. I weigh less than 110 lbs
4. I am under 5 ft. short.
5. I have only 1 arm with a hand on it
6. Therefore, I can only pick up one piece of 1/4" cement backer board. I cannot pick up 1/2" as it is too heavy for me.
7. I have NO physical help, nor do I want any. I just want informational help. Hence, I am here to get your help.
This is for a vanity in a guest bathroom to be rarely used.
For more don't ask reasons I've chosen to mount 2 slabs of 1/4" backerboard on my new bathroom vanity countertop to get to the 1/2" height I need (like I mentioned my reasons; don't ask!)
My simple, I hope, question is: Is it workable for me to adhere the 1st 1/4" backerboard to the 3/4" exterior grade ply with some sort of glue, like Hard as Nails, then use thinset to apply the second 1/4" backerboard if both will then be screwed down to the ply with the proper cement/backerboard screws?
Thanks.
