universal bonding compound

Hi All
Does anyone know if I can use universal bonding compound , that is used to stick plasterboards to blockwork . to use as an adhesive to stick stone tiles onto blockwork .
Reason is financial as I have a large area to cover. Tile adhesive is £20 a bag , universal compound is £5.50 for a 25 kilo bag.

Hi Jimmy.
No tiler will provide the answer that your after here as I doubt if it would be even considered.
My advice would be to wait until you can save the money to do the job correctly or ring the 'universal bonding compound' company technical department and ask them.

I suppose you want to dot and dab as well to save on glue... Perhaps you could get a print stick or two...they're only 49p each...

If you have purchased natural stone it deserves the right adhesive for fixing....
