Travertine Scratch

hello
I have had BT working in my home and they have left me with a nice scratch on one of my hall tiles (pic attached). The tiles originally where installed in the hall floor and the conntecting downstairs toilet, I have no spare tiles from the original installation which was only recently (tiles purchased 12 months ago).
What options do i have to get this fixed? I know BT have asked me to get 2 quotes for the complaint to be looked at.

I spoke to the original tiler who said he would quote me for a new floor, which sounds excessive to me? If i got a new floor i would be concerned about it looking odd to my tiled walls in the downstairs toilet.

Don't panic Mike :0) , should be able to get it polished out . I'm sure someone on here will be in your area who could help you out or at least advise on the process.
Essentially it's done with finer and finer grits of sand paper/ diamond pads using either a wet or dry polisher.

Cheers Diggy what would the cost for this service be? As BT will be paying I think that's why the tiler just said rip it out and do it again lol

If tile surface is Matt finish then a fine grain glass (sand) paper will do. If polished finish then diamond polishing will be necessary. This can be time consuming and messy which will cost more. Prices cannot be given in this forum, but you could try placing a "tiler wanted" ad in the appropriate forum.

My tiles finish are inbetween polished and Matt, I can't really estimate scratch depth but it's deep enough for yout nail to go in.

Hi mike , that can be sorted easily enough , its not a Diy project though , so let me know where you are and ill try to recommend a stone restorer in your area.


As for your tiler saying its a new floor , thats rubbish and lack of skill in stone surfacing.

Sorry about the delay I have been on holiday I am based in South Liverpool. BT have asked for 2 quotes before they will even consider my claim.
