How far do you travel for work on domestic jobs...are you having to travel further for work. Do you cost this into the job or do you just price the same as a local job to win the work...Get lots of enquiries for tiling work 1 hour plus away...I'm says to customers get other written quotes and i will see if it worth me traveling to look at the job...can waste so much time traveling.

I've gone as far as 50 miles each way to quoute, but it was a two week job and I had pre agreed that I would sleep their whilst doing the work and would under not travel that distance every day for two weeks without a significant hike in price for fuel.

i probably wouldn't travel too far if it's only a splashback/bathroom floor or similar,but i would for bigger jobs:thumbsup:

My customers wouldnt be happy if i slept on the job....

Done Aberdeen and Brighton, London a stack of times, I go where the work takes me.

I'm travelling 23 mile at the moment but it's for a old customer who has gone to live in his son's house, just started one of 3 bathrooms.

I was 53 away yesterday.i drove to it quite a few times over last few wks but my pricing was higher to compensate for all!

I will travel pretty much anywhere, but no more than 65 miles each way daily, having said that at the mo, I am thoroughly grounded, because some clown cut a corner on a B road near me while I was going home tonight, and smashed up the front of my van, so, I'm feeling thoroughly sickened and peed off:thumbsdown::thumbsdown:. Hire van arriving tomorrow so I can carry on working while I mourn the loss of my much loved vehicle.:thumbsdown:,

Oh no...will it be written off?

Don't know yet mate, it's in a compound in Wellingborough to be assessed, I'm going to persuade the insurance company to repair it, 'cos it's my baby, and I've done loads of work on it in the last year, it's running like a dream. Fingers crossed buddy. The right wing, bonnet and offside wheel absolutely mullered, the other driver admitted liability, and could hardly speak any English! Great eh?

How old is the van....Hope he had insurance, so many people driving these days without it...

It's a 2001 Partner in brilliant condition, fantastic workhorse, it handles any weight I can throw at it, provided I can fit it in! I've had it 4 years and not been interested in any other van since, although I would like a middle sized van later, only for the three seats really, so I can get my 2 boys in and the eldest lads motocrosser. Might be sooner than I thought.

I have a Peugeot expert 2.0 Hdi 2008, fantastic van and 3 seats is brilliant with the kids, plus i can get two trials bikes in the back. Had a vauxhall combo before bit too small.

I'd been looking at the Expert as a replacement for mine when it eventually gave in, they seem the perfect size, and have all the things like side loading door, three seats, and being Peugeot, superb engines, and the important thing:- getting bikes in as you say. Oh well, its a case of watch this space I think.

not ideal but this week im doing a 60 mile round trip a day,but id be moaning more if i was sat at home not earning:thumbsup:

Up here you have to travel for work. Just completed a small bathroom job, 120 mile round trip! Billed for diesel though!!
