Tiling Mosaics on Uneven Surface

We're halfway through tiling a combination of mosaics and ceramin tiles.

In the picture below, along the vertical strip of blue mastic, the wall drops back about 2-3mm from left (of blue mastic line) to right (of blue mastic line).

What is best way to smooth this out, so that we have a flat, flush surface to tile on? The tiles going onto that blue area will be a continuation of the mosaics from below therefore we need the surface to be as flat as possible.

We need the surface to be brought forward 2-3mm from the blue mastic line, to the adjacent wall on the right hand side (about 2 feet away therefore need to smooth out an area approx 8 square feet)

Could we apply tile adhesive, let it dry, then sand it flat/even, and then start tiling the mosaics using a fresh layer of adhesive on top of the dried adhesive?

If you are using a cement based adhesive then you could do it that way or take a piece of wood and notch out the depth ot the mosaic plus a few mm for adhesive. Spread the area to be mosaic and use teh wood to set the depth. Let dry and then tile.

As above. Some pics.
