having felt down in the dumps recentley due to having not alot of work and ringing around builders etc i have recieved a large package through the door this morning regarding a new build care home with over 500 m2 of wall tiling. I completed 2 care homes last year single handed but no where near as large as this. In the package it has explained that i was invited to tender for this project on supply and fix basis including floor trims(vinyl) and the health and safety coshh assesments. When i worked for the other builder who worked on the previous care homes i just supplied labour and didnt need to tender for it.

so i want to get this right and hopefully this is the break ive been looking for i just want to know anyone experienced in tendering any advice or guidance appreciated?

Read the payment terms before you go any further, can you afford to but materials and run a job this size while waiting for payment? Is there a penalty clause, can you get the job done on time? What percentage do they keep back as retention? Do you know other tiler to help you, and keep the standard, as its you that will need to sort the problems out. I used to do commercial landscaping, and commercial work was a bloody nightmare.

thanks enduro all the terms and conditions are in package and payment now i need to weigh up the pros and cons ive read them and im pretty confident i can handle to project aswell as the finiance side of things

Ring a surveyers office and explain what you have been offered, It may help you to pay an hour of his time for some guidence or PM pjc he do'es very large contracts, he may be able to offer some guidence.

Good luck:thumbsup:
