Have a replacement shower to do. Walls are skimed plasterboard stud so was intending to tank possibly using WP1. Intended shower tray has a tiling upstand but it is possible that this might be changed to a type with no upstand. The problem is that the shower is upstairs on a floorboarded floor which is supported off the middle of a 6 metre RSJ and there is also a bath next to it. So I expect the floor will move in use. Previous tiles were well siliconed to a tall upstand and the wall did show some signs of mildew behind on wall just above tray position. Possibly damp got in tiling but could not get out at bottom because of silicon seal.
Any suggestions as to how to finish WP1 at shower tray juntion but allow for movement. Asked Bal but they are not sure what to suggest. Many thanks.

Hi

dont want to dishearten you but I think you need to be using materials made for the job especially if you have a suspect floor. Your base is clearly a less able low level one and wasnt made for the job you are asking of it so it will need changing as you say. Maybe best if you ask the question in the wetroom forum

Tray is going to be replaced, new enclosure and new tiling. Just which is best type of tray for situation and method of fitting / joint to wall to allow for any movement. Best to tank or tilebacker board? Does not look that there was a serious problem before but not as good as I feel it shoud have been. As this is all being done from scratch want to do best I can so no problems later. All suggestions welcomed. Many thanks.
