Anyone aware of new regs on tanking rooms that state the entire wetroom must be tanked irrespective of size. i.e. the complete floor area and minimum 800mm up the wall? I'm checking with building regs in the morning but this (according to topps tiles) has come into effect since the new year. Or does this just coincide with the new Homelux membrane??

Well I will be waiting for your reply on here failing that you could give me the number of the topps branch you work at and I'll call you m8 😉

I don't work there. Its just the first place I heard about new laws/regs. Now local tilers are talking about new regs. I can't find any info anywhere so was wondering if it's nothing more than a sales pitch.

Tanking wetroom regulations often refer to the fact that gypsum based wall boards are installed - and these need protection !
Therefore the tanking regulations - in Germany - are invented by the gypsum based wallboard manufacturers. I have these regulations only in german language but you may find your answers by taking a look into the so called "The white book". This book is available in the UK and gives all information about gypsum based products - and should mention the regulations about tanking wetrooms as it makes sense here.

Spoke with building control today - they are not aware of any building regs current or pending that specify to what level a wetroom must be tanked.
