i am going to tile my kitchen floor but its already tiled do i need to remove allthe tiles and also the self leveling compound underneath them or can i just remove the tiles and then re skim the self leveling compound

Remove them, check that whatever is left stuck on the floor is fixed well (compound-wise) and then skim and tile.

Self level , coverage will be about 5 square metres per 20 kg bag at 6mm depth
