slate floor

hi, after a quick bit of help. have a 27 square metre floor in kitchen and utility to do. floor is t & g floorboards onto joists. very solid and cant feel any deflection. advised customer of need to overboard anyway but an wondering whether 18mm ply prior to tiling or 12mm ply then 6mm backerboard? any thoughts welcome

If the boards are solid, then just hardibacker over that..

thanks dave, always a bit tempted to go over the top with stone as seen too many **** ups at other jobs (not mine thankfully) so always wary

I'm not a lover of tiling to ply, deffo cement boards for me. 🙂

I'd use marmox boards, stuck with flexible adhesive and screwed, much better than plywood.
