Silicon under kitchen units

Just wondered if anyone had any good tips for when you are gunning the Silicon into corners between kitchen units and bench, i often find it hard to get the gun in properly, i manage but it takes a little while and gets a bit fiddly?

...i would say the best thing is just experience in doing it!!!...practice at home,make up a bit of a model with some ply or mdf and practice...theres certainly a "knack" required here,no text book method !!!...good luck....it took me ages to get it spot on.....lots of fairy liquid and water!

Thanks m8, i manage ok, just wondered if anyone had any 'special' tips, I don't like siliconing at the best of times.

If you can be bothered (we've had this debate before) you can run a couple of lines of masking tape down the surfaces leaving a small Silicon width and run quickly down them and smooth over with a wet finger (not a licked finger, use tap water!) and then pull the tape off in a fairly steady motion and it leaves the neatest smoothest line you could possibly get.

I think last time I said this though I got nailed by the others and we ended up agreeing that it takes too long to setup.

Ha ha - yes
I have just constructed a "model" kitchen in my garage, cost me £2500, great to practice on. Next job is a model bathroom in my cellar !!!!
