gotta agree with Dave, light pressure is the thing you should just hear a light hiss as you go over the tile, and for smooth porc I always use 6 or 8mm wheels they cut sweeter. my only gripe is that for the last couple of years my ruby wheels only seem to last a month or so of daily use before the pin starts to loosen in the shaft then its just a matter of time before the wheel and pin drop out and I've got my nose to the ground brushing through the dust and debris looking for the dam thing because my spares are in my other cutter at home 70 km away. This once happened within 3 days of purchase, my supplier was going to get the rubi sales rep to contact me last year, I'm still waiting, any one else had experience of this your way or is it just what they are sending us in Holland. Now I have followed the advice, this cutter is amazing, should have bought one years ago!

Perfect cuts everytime!

Thanks Dave, that little Vitrex wet cutter is pretty good too

I' not a tiler by profession, but do quite a lot, especially with Porcelano.
I only use a wet cutter, so I cheat I guess.

What I do after cutting a tile that will be exposed, I use a flat sharpenning stone for knives and chisels. I dress the edges carefully and remove that minutes roughness.
Once laid and gouted, it's much much better than not doing it.
On Porcelano you can be quite aggresive as long as you stroke away from the upper side.
It may not be in the book, but it works for me:thumbsup:
