starting work for an agency on monday at notts university £13 ph a few months work , 45 hr week works out at £585
a week cant believe things have got so bad im doing this , but better than sat on my arse i suppose
ive always been against agencies , but pride wont pay the bills , so will give it ago untill things pick up

**** sake Rob.... not good to be quiet to have to do this but i agree, bills do not pay themselves... i really hope things work out for you...

not good at all dave , shall see how it goes i wont be cutting any corners if there not doing it right i will walk
could always become a male escort

hope it all works out for you m8. been there my self not so long back things will pick up they always do

i was looking at one for £10 an hour a couple of months back, thankfully things picked up a bit, know where your coming from though, bills need to be payed, just plod along mate and dont kill yourself not on thoughs prices

It has started to pick up in the London area Rob ,I was working for nearly 2 and half years and only taking home less than £900 a month mate when I was running my own firm so £585 a week would have seemed like a wage increase back then ,as long as the agency dont muck you about for money then hopefully it will get you through until your own work picks up again, good luck, Gary

Keep chipping away mate and make sure you do keep your toe in with the domestic lot for yourself too. You can always tell the agency when you're not available if you do get your own work back in I'm sure.

Do the agency take your tax directly or is it subbed to another firm which you have to pay a % to sort your wages.........

Rob its not good out there in the commercial side is it never seen anything like it mind you a lot of floors are going back to wood at the moment

some weeks im lucky to hit 585 for a week rob and thats for 5 days work atm on domestics, prices in the mainstream end of the market have dived and customers are not paying what they were here . its all about survival atm it seems

Decent enough money in the grand scheme of things. You know what you're getting at the end of the week without worrying how you're paying the bills. If your tax is paid out of it then at least you know you will get a good bit of it back come self assessment time.

Only problem is that it's easy to get stuck in a rut where you can't do your own work because you're booked up with the agency, unless you're doing it evenings and weekends. That way you'll get a nice wage but you'll be working your plumbs off for it.

Not aware of any agency work over here but would imagine it would pay out £8 or £9ph if fixing rates are anything to go by.

well i decided not to do the agency work ,i just could,nt go against what i believe in ,

plus wages were done by a third party taking a % of your wage , yeah right do one lol

get out there and go in every bathroom showroom and kitchens within 20 miles... hand your cards out and take a portfolio of your work.. show them you are the one to use.. really sell yourself.
