ive checked out the marmox and the costs are so expensive for all the parts and washers plus there slightly smaller than aqua.

Can aqua panels be used on top of plywood prior to tiling a floor? Or does it have to be hardie?

Yeah you can use aqua panel on the floor. Have a read through the installation instructions tho, I think they recommend the same fixing method as Hardie but it has been a long time since I used it.
