I have a couple of large floor jobs coming up and was wondering if it is worth getting someone to mix the tiles and the muck for me:lightbulb:.

How much should i pay?

And would it pay off?

Any suggestions?

Cheers Laur

If it's a cheap labourer, it can pay off, try to get a friend of the family or something similar. Pay them cash one-off or take them on a minimum wage based on them learning too maybe?

Personally, i'd just pay them for this job a flat rate. Depending on your area and who you know etc, if they are just going to be mixing £30 a day would be a good wage. If you can stick that in the job as an extra you're a winner.

your not margaret thatchers secret son a dan,hes got to pay at least £4.50 an hr for the day

Well, cash, £30? Works out at about 6.66 hours based on £4.50 per hour, so generally taking out a lunch and some *** breaks it's about right.

What he doesn't want to do is employ him full time based on this job. So rather than go for £4.50 per hour, I'd just offer a fixed cash rate to be honest. As most do.

I started out sweeping and passing tiles and mixing on about £150 a week, equal to £30 a day.

behave will yeh, thats a bit slack isnt it,as for 6.66 hrs,if you can finish the job in a day with the customers permission im stopping till its done,im not going back the next day to grout up,maybe £30 sheets a day for the week ,depending who it is that he wants to take on to help him, just remember though make sure they can drive aswell

I was thinking more like sending them round to bang the local '4 day tilers' wife whilst he is sorting out his crap job he has been called back too, like normal.

Thanks chaps. I figure if i'm going fit more jobs in per week it'll be money well spent. This time next year Rodney........
