Just wondering what would be the best grout float to buy.
I bought one on my tiling course but the white rubber is starting to come apart from the black rubber. Iv only used it three times.

Also i find my trowels are becoming rusty after i wash them. Can i oil them lightily or will this affect adhesive on next use.

Any tips on cleaning other tools to prolong there life appreciated. I.e how long should my rubi blades on dry cutter last before i should consider changing them?

Thanx

I only use Rubi trowels, but they do rust eventually. A light rub with wire wool each week keeps them sweet. I only use Mashaltown floats. The trouble with floats is if you let even a little bit of grout dry on them, they tend to split when next used, so wash them off with a sponge between each knock-up of grout.

As for the Rubi blades, you'll soon know they are not happy any more!! Cuts will fail, they sound horrid etc.

Rubi stainless trowels for me too. Have same problem with grout floats too, even though I am constantly cleaning them. I use a marshalltown float at the moment but have a problem with the metal baseplate, it can mark tiles if you catch them with it and it don't come off! Quite fancy trying the new Platinum float but don't want to betray my loyalty to this forum by buying form a rival.
